Mental fatigue increases subjective fatigue and reduces cognitive ability, but its effects on sport performance and perceived exertion are still not well understood. established for some sports. For this reason, the present study sought to to assess how mental fatigue can affect both perceived exertion and performance of 25 practitioners of extreme conditioning programs (ECP). For this, a randomized experimental cross-sectional study was carried out, with PCE practitioners, who were randomly distributed into two groups, Stroop Group and Neutral Group, with the first group being subjected to stress mental by applying the Stroop Test Color, along with an arithmetic reasoning test. The present study demonstrated that, in just one session, there was an increase in the perception of effort where the Neutral Group presented 14.1 ± 1.9 and the Stroop Group 16 ± 1.3 and, consequently, an increase in the time interval to complete the exercises, thus impairing the athlete's performance.pt_BR
