The compression garments have become promising in the sporting environment, but their form of performance and results are not consensual. There are few works that observed this garment in collective sports, such as football, which is characterized by requiring intermittent efforts and fixture congestion, resulting in a high prevalence of lower limb injuries. Therefore, any interventions that may promote a decrease in this risk and/or maintenance of performance in the season are promising and warrant research. The present study had as objective to verify the effects of the use of compression socks during soccer game and their implications in the recovery of the athletes. Twenty amateur female soccer players were randomly divided into two groups, experimental (with compression) and control, and balanced according to the team and tactical positions. Before the match (48 hours) and soon after the match, the players performed three physical tests (T agility, heel-raise and Yo-yo intermittent endurance level 2), and recorded subjective perceptions. The game was able to generate the same stress in the players (mean HR ~84% HRmax, and subjective effort perception ~8 AU [arbitrary units], on a scale of 0 to 10), and the use of compression benefited the post-match performance in the agility T test, maintaining the yield, and in the heel-raise test, with lower performance reduction compared to the control group. It’s concluded that the use of compression socks reduce the acute calf fatigue from the game, allowing the player to perform the postmatch tests with a better performance than the control group. Thus, although the late recovery hasn’t been followed, it is expected that the players’ recovery will be faster and more effective, making the compression socks a promising strategy during the soccer game and for the season.eng
